Presentation
Lapis-Lazuli takes its name from the Latin lapis "Stone" and lazulum "Sky", which itself comes from the Persian lazhward which means "blue". It is not a mineral per se, but a rock composed of several minerals, mainly calcite with lazurite, haüyne or even sodalite, sometimes with inclusions of pyrite.
Lapis-Lazuli has always been, and is still today, reduced to powder to be used as a natural pigment (called outremer) for painting and illumination.
Legends
In Mesopotamia, Lapis Lazuli was used to make amulets and seals, some of which were engraved with magical texts. The Egyptians made funerary scarabs from them as well as decorative objects and statuettes.
Greeks and Romans made offerings of Lapis-Lazuli to reward courage.
At psychological level
Lapis Lazuli is a stone of transformation. It allows you to recognize obsolete thought patterns and emotions to release and transmute them. It facilitates personal expression and unblocks speech. At physical level
Lapis Lazuli relieves pain, especially during fever or headache. It is beneficial for the nervous system, respiratory system, throat, larynx and thyroid. It purifies organs and blood, activates the immune system.
Maintenance
You can purify Lapis-Lazuli by passing it under running water for a few minutes, or even better, by immersing it in spring water. You can also use incense (fumigation) or vibration (singing bowl).
Lapis-Lazuli can be placed for a few hours in the moon or in the sun (low intensity), on an Amethyst or Quartz geode or even on a Flower of Life in order to recharge it.
Synthesis
Lapis-Lazuli is a stone of expression that allows you to open your heart and your emotions to yourself and to others. Stone of protection for travelers, it opens to a better understanding of oneself and leads to the acceptance of one's own truths.
