Jasper is a variety of Chalcedony, close to Heliotrope and especially Agates.
From the Greek and Latin names "iaspis", which means "spotted stone", Jasper is a stone of peace and wisdom that brings serenity. It supports in times of stress and brings empathy. It is used over long periods of time, its action being slow and gentle.
Legends
Already known to the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, Jasper was used to make jewelry and amulets, seals, engravings and mosaics, or even imposing pieces such as vases or even pillars.
The ancient Egyptians considered Jasper to be the blood of their goddess Isis.
In the Middle Ages, it was thought to drive away evil spirits and help keep secrets. It is said of him that he would protect against the bites of snakes and spiders. In the 4th century, Jasper was thought to cause rain.
